Panasonic TX-P42X10B Review

Panasonic are a Japanese corporation that are one of the market leaders when it comes to televisions and other electrical devices, and in this article we review the Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen Television, which was first released on sale around the beginning of 2009, retailing around the £600 mark.

The TX-P42X10B is part of the Panasonic Viera range, which is renowned for its excellent picture performance, particularly in relation to sports events and action movies. The reason for this is that some TV's struggle with fast-moving images, whilst the Viera range is equipped with 100Hz technology to counter this.

The viewing quality is the best selling point of the Panasonic TX-P42X10B television set, with a great depth of colours and excellent contrast on display. As this model is a plasma model, viewers do not have to sacrifice picture quality when they want to watch from a wide angle. This is not always the case with some other widescreen models.

A 42-inch screen is a great size, but it is important to consider the size of your room before you make the purchase. Unless your room is at least 12ft x 12ft you may find that a screen of this size can become slightly overbearing, and will not offer the best viewing option.

Audio quality is also very good with this 42-inch Panasonic Television, with V-Audio technology providing clarity that ranks above the vast majority of television sets in this price bracket. There is also the potential for adding a surround sound set if you so desire.

One of the best things about the Panasonic TX-P42X10B is that it is so easy to set up. It is literally just a case of plugging it in and switching it on - there is no complex installation procedure. Customer feedback has indicated that the only slight drawback is that the screen needs a few hours 'bedding in' before it displays images to their best. This is quite common with television sets, however.

In terms of design, this Panasonic Widescreen model is sleek and contemporary looking, and comes in a traditional back casing. The screen is constructed with an additional front sheet of glass, making the TV durable, hard-wearing and ideal for those with young children.

It could be argued that this TV is basic in design, as it does not come with some of the additional features that can be found on other sets of this price, such as USB capabilities. If however you are not a technical buff and just want to watch a quality TV, you are looking in the right place.

Overall, the Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen Television is a great all-round purchase, scoring highly in terms of both picture quality and audio capabilities. The stylish design and top manufacturer make it one for the shortlist.

Interview With Michele VonOrt Cozzens, Author of "A Line Between Friends"

Michele VanOrt Cozzens is a former journalist with a long history as a reporter, editor, and, newspaper columnist. She has two previous books released "I'm Living Your Dream Life: The Story of a Northwoods Resort Owner," and "The Things I Wish I'd Said." Michele, along with her husband, Mike, and two daughters ,Willow and Camille, owns and operates a family vacation resort in northern Wisconsin where they spend their summers. The family spends the remaining nine months in Tucson, Arizona.

Juanita: Welcome to Reader Views Michele, and thanks for the opportunity to talk with you about your compelling novel "A Line Between Friends." Michele, after writing two nonfiction books, why did you decide to write your first novel?

Michele: Hi Juanita. I appreciate your interest in my work. I'm often asked why I decided to cross over from non-fiction to fiction. The decision was simple. Working as a feature writer, a columnist and editor during my journalism career always required one consistent thing: getting to the truth. Writing fiction allowed me, for the first time, to just make things up! It was a like having a license to lie. And it was alarmingly easy.

Juanita: Why this particular story?

Michele: This story is based on something that happened to me. I had a male friend in college and we had the same major, so we studied together a lot. After graduation we went our separate ways, but stayed in touch mostly through Christmas cards and birthday phone calls. That was it. He got married, I got married, he sent a birth announcement or two, and then I sent a Christmas card when I was pregnant with my first child. And in response I received a really terse letter telling me to stay out of his life. I read it over and over trying to figure out why he wrote it, but it kept coming down to the same thing. He felt our continued correspondence, as innocent and inconsequential as it was (at least to me), was unfair to him and to his wife. Clearly this guy had a different idea about our relationship than I. When I showed the letter to my husband, he explained to me that "guys have a different way of looking at platonic friendships than girls," and that I should probably just let him go. So I did. But it bothered me. It made me feel like I was 'the other woman' or something, and I didn't like that label. This is why I decided to transfer all my feelings onto two made-up characters with different backgrounds yet similar circumstances. I thought if I could solve the puzzle for the two of them, I could answer a few of my own questions as well.

Juanita: Would you tell us about your two main characters Joel Rolland and Noelle Moncada?

Michele: First of all, I am NOT Noelle. She is far prettier (and taller) than I am, and I don't necessarily agree with the assessments she makes of her relationship with Joel. She also walk(ed) in the shadow of a brilliant older sister and lost her father when she was only eight years old. I grew up in a house filled with kids and my father died only recently, at the age of 86. As I was writing the characters I identified a lot more with Joel. Joel was the mystery to me, so I had to get to know him and like him. Ultimately, he's a lot like my best friend, the man who happens to be my husband. My husband was a wonderful consultant--not only because I made Joel a stockbroker and that was my husband's trade, but also, because each time I wrote a "Joel chapter" in first person, I'd read it aloud to my husband and often he'd stop me cold and say things like, "Michele, a guy would never say something like that!" Ultimately, I'd say that both Joel and Noelle are intelligent, yet typical products of a 1970s-80s Midwestern upbringing. I think they both love their spouses and their kids, yet hold a sentimental place for their friendship with one another, and ultimately learn that it's okay to live with those memories.

Juanita: Michele, your book poses the age-old question - Can a man and a woman remain friends after each marries someone else? What happens in "A Line Between Friends"?

Michele: As I've found through the now countless number of discussions I've had since this book was published, there isn't one, definitive answer to this question. This is what makes the topic so interesting to discuss. I believe there are as many answers to this question as there are relationships between men and women. I can say without the slightest doubt that I have a few very good friends who are married men. One of my closest friends in the world is a man, who isn't married, but he's my husband's best friend as well, and we, of course, have never 'crossed the line.' Joel and Noelle do cross the line, although it happened early in their relationship and years passed before Joel sent the letter cutting off all ties. He is ultimately the one who is conflicted about his feelings for Noelle, and has been all along. For these two, I don't think it's possible; however, I still leave it up to the reader to decide.

Juanita: The voices of your two main characters are heard strongly throughout your novel by each chapter alternating first-person accounts. What can you tell us about the strength of this context in revealing the differing male/female perspectives?

Michele: This is a very good question. Because this is the story of Joel and Noelle who each tell the same story of how they met and how their relationship develops, I felt it was important to give them equal time. Men and women tend to have different takes on relationships and I wanted to try and bring out both those takes--if you will--by putting the reader inside the heads of each. I bring in their friends (college roommates, for example) to show how much influence friends have upon our relationships as well.

Juanita: What seems to be the compelling force that has kept these two in contact for so many years?

Michele: I'd like to say it's simply because they like each other . . . but I think we learn that Noelle likes to cling to the one consistent male figure in her life who is more like a fun brother than a patriarchal father or critical boyfriend, and I believe Joel thinks of Noelle as some kind of goddess who is consistently out of his reach. He likes the idea of her more than the woman she actually is.

Juanita: The past plays a big part of your story as both Joel and Noelle reflect back on their relationship. Would you comment on the coming of age aspect of "A Line Between Friends" and the vivid manner in which you transport readers back in time?

Michele: Transporting readers back to the 1970s was a fun trip down memory lane for me. As an aspiring journalist back in high school, I kept journals on everything and was therefore able to not only tap into my memory of foil wall paper, peacock feather and Chianti bottle décor, but also replay the music of Led Zeppelin, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and I remember the apathetic nature many of us developed toward politics by coming of age during Watergate. My first interesting piece in the school newspaper was on Title IX and how the PE teachers felt about incorporating co-ed PE into the curriculum. The differing responses between the male and female teachers made an enormous impression upon me. Let's not forget this was the time when "the Battle of the Sexes" and the competition between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs was front and center in pop culture. I don't think it took intelligent members of our generation very long to figure out that the playing field was fairly equal. I think we learned to have friends of the opposite sex pretty easily.

Juanita: Michele, why do you think it can be so difficult for people to let go of past relationships?

Michele: I'm not sure that I do. When the man I married nearly 18 years ago came into my life, I didn't feel the need to hang onto any of my previous (sexual) relationships. Friendships, however, are another story. As with my male college friend who inspired this story, we had 20 years worth of fond memories, which I simply liked to bring to the front of my mind around the holidays with a greeting card. I wasn't dragging up the "relationship" or trying to make it anything more than it was, but apparently either he was . . . or his wife was . . . and when he asked me to stop all contact, I had to try and respect that.

Juanita: Who or what do you think ultimately defines the "line" between friends?

Michele: Sex. Sleep with someone and the relationship crosses over the line between friends and lovers.

Juanita: Do you think both women and men will enjoy reading "A Line Between Friends"?

Michele: When I work-shopped this book, I had far more male readers/commentators than women. Like my husband, the men enjoyed keeping me in line and helped empower my language and thoughts to be more authentically male. I think this is more of the story of Joel as Noelle, and I actually agree with his conclusions - when what they may be called - as I do with Noelle. So to answer your question, I think that men and women equally and enjoy reading about this story.

Juanita: What were some moments you have lived this story? There was another method for you except your books?

Michael, every time I was a draft of a chapter done, I called my husbandinto my office so I could read it aloud to him--especially Joel's chapters, as he was such a big help with the voice. There's one chapter in particular where I closed my eyes and typed while he talked to me. I interviewed him about his first day working at the Chicago Board of Trade. He had fantastic recall, describing sights and sounds, and I gave these all to Joel. Like Joel, his mother died of cancer and I liked hearing him talk about the last days he spent with her at her bedside and how she used to comment on Ryne Sandberg's 'nice ass.' It was difficult for him, but she died before we were married and it allowed me to get to know her and to know more about their relationship.

Writing this novel was a completely different experience than writing the first two books. The first two, a memoir and then a collection of columns/essays, came easily and felt like the kind of writing I'd trained to do and had done professionally for years. Writing fiction, on the other hand, was like spitting in the wind and entirely entertaining. I'm an avid reader of fiction and love to sink my teeth into a good story and get to know vivid characters. With this experience, I got to know Joel and Noelle so well, they became very real to me. Sometimes I'd even dream about them. It was a very powerful thing to be able to send them in various directions and determine their fate.

Juanita: Michele, do you find human nature and relationships a compelling subject? Can we expect more books from you in reflecting these themes?

Michele: Juanita, I find human nature, and relationships in particular, to be THE most compelling subject for writers. Stories about people and relationships between people arise everyday and are an endless source of fascination. Yes, expect more books from me reflecting these themes.

Juanita: How did you find writing in the genre of fiction, an area that hasn't been your professional focus?

Michele: I know my publisher would prefer that I focus on a sequel to my book about the innkeeping business, and I continually hear that non-fiction is easier to sell and to promote. But I need to feel passionate about a book to which I've turned over my life--and make no mistake--when I'm writing a book, I'm living a story inside my head. Even though my husband is very supportive when I'm working on a project (driving the car pool, doing the grocery shopping and making the kids' lunches, etc.), I still have to time it right so that I don't neglect my family completely. My girls (now 12 and 9) won't be these adorable, remarkable ages forever!

Juanita: What great ages! As a mom, and having had a similar experience you wrote about in "A Line Between Friends," what advice will you give to your girls when they get older?

Michele: My girls already know I believe they should be at least 30 years old before they get married (!) They are very lucky to have a dad who is such a wonderful example of what a "good husband" is. We are very affectionate in front of our children, and share all the household chores. We laugh together constantly and honestly, never fight. I think the best way to teach your children anything is through example rather than through advice. My older daughter, Willow, has already shown her ability to make friends with boys. Part of it is because she's very athletic, and can get past a lot of them on the soccer field. Most of her girlfriends are already a bit boy-crazy and they talk about Who is "going out" with them. (That cracks me up - I mean, where sixth graders go '"), but Willow still keep an eye on someone I do not think people give enough smart and continue to be met for someone like her father - and I mean, someone with Camille whole package, unlike others, has an eye on the cutest boy in class and will mention red as the heart of Valentine's Day when her name ..

Juanita: Do you have other projects inworks?

Michele: Last year I wrote a rough draft of a novel about a group of women who play the dice game bunco. Did you know that over 750,000 American women play this game? I thought it might make for a ready audience. There's a lot of characters and it needs some polish--and this past year I didn't have time to focus on it. I would like to get back to it, however, because I really fell in love with the characters. They were funny.

I also have a story in the front of my brain that's been pestering me to come out for several years. It's called "Irish Twins," and it's based on two sisters who are less than a year a part. I have an Irish Twin and we are as much alike as we are different. We have each led very interesting lives. It might be a good format to alternate chapters between the two as I did with Joel and Noelle.

Juanita: I understand that you are the founder of a non-profit organization called HerBeware, and that you have donated proceeds from your book sales to this cause. Would you tell us more?

Michele: Yes, thank you for asking about this, as it's a subject close to my heart. HerBeware is a grassroots effort to help educate the public on the potential dangers of non-regulated herbs, particularly those found in dietary supplements. During the editing process of my first book, "I'm Living Your Dream Life," my 20 year old niece suffered a fatal heart attack, which was brought on by the herb ephedra (aka ma huang). I dedicated the book to her and held fund-raising events with book signings, and with the publicity I was required to do, to spread awareness of this subject. I promise you, it was an awkward and difficult thing going around promoting a book about my so-called "dream life," when poor niece had so needlessly just lost her's. I felt much better by using my opportunity in the public eye to help prevent even one more family from going through what we did because they didn't know that ephedra, for example, tests positive for amphetamines. This beautiful young girl thought she was taking a dietary supplement to help her shed a few pounds, and she may as well have been snorting cocaine for the effect it had on her heart! The FDA has since banned ephedra and yet there's still an effort to get it back on the market. I don't spend much time debating herb industry apologists these days (it took over my life for a while) but I do feel we made a valiant effort at getting out the information and cautioning people to not only check labels, but also check with their physicians before simply trusting a label that reads "all natural" and expecting it to mean that it's perfectly safe.

Juanita: Michele, how can readers find out more about you and your books?

Michele: Sandy Point Resort and Disc Golf Ranch, the business I own and operate along with my husband, Mike, has a wonderful website: http://www.sandypt.com. My author website, which details my books and provides purchasing information is: http://www.michelecozzens.com. I am represented by Sligo Literary Agency.

Juanita: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us today Michele. Your thought-provoking novel will certainly entertain readers, and we appreciate your candid responses. Before we depart, do you have any last thoughts?

Michele: Thanks, Juanita. I'd just like to say that each time I receive a good review, it feels like someone is complimenting one of my children. I'm so grateful to people who take the time to contact me with their comments about my books. But this is something I like to stress to aspiring authors . . . writing is actually the easy part. Selling your books is an entirely different and much more difficult experience. This is why I appreciate you allowing me the opportunity to promote my book. Even if one person reads this interview and finds the topic played out in A Line Between Friends compelling enough to switch over to Amazon.com and buy a copy, we've had time well spent. Now if you have any connections that can get me on Oprah, The Today Show, The View or even Dr. Phil, I'd be eternally grateful. Cheers!

Making Money Through Blogging - Improving Search Engine Rankings

The biggest step you can take towards increasing traffic to your website is considering how search engines "see" your blog. You may have tons of great content that users will gobble up, but if your readers can not find it there is no point! My years of experience have taught me that search engines do not really care about the quality and quantity of your website content. This is a sad truth, but an important one to grasp. Search engines really only consider how important your site appears to be. This is measured by the quality and quantity of your website's backlinks.

A backlink is a hyperlink from some other website that points to your blog or online store. The more importantly search engines view that site, the more credibility you will build with sites like Google and Yahoo. Think about it, the biggest websites on the internet have millions of backlinks from personal and business websites. It is impossible to browse the internet for more than five or ten seconds without stumbling across a hyperlink to Facebook. This is why social media websites rank so high on search engines.

How can you tell whether a website is "popular" with search engines? One easy way to get an idea is by checking on a website's Google Page Rank, or PR. Most browsers have applications that will add a PR tool to your browsing window. This will make it easy to see if a site is relatively unknown (PR=0) or amazingly popular (PR=10). There are only a few page rank 10 websites on the internet, but if you really want to start getting serious traffic to your website you will need to get your page ranked as at least a 1.

How can you do that? The answer lies in building backlinks. This process can be tedious, but it will pay off in the long-run. There are several ways to build backlinks. Posting on forums with links in your profile is the easiest way, but article writing, online press releases, and blog commenting are also very popular methods of backlinking. You might also want to contact webmasters of related sites to ask for a link exchange. This is a powerful tool as well. The more links you have, the more likely your page will get ranked by Google.

The sooner you get started building quality backlinks the faster your website will see high volumes of traffic. After all, the more visitors your site has, the more money you can generate through ads, sales, and affiliate programs.

Playing Better Golf - Improve Your Approach Shot

Being able to hit a clean, crisp shot from the fairway onto the green is one of the best feelings in golf. Seeing it fly through the air, hitting the green and watching it roll smoothly towards the hole is a great sight as any fellow golfer will know. However, there are many golfers that struggle to be able to make this happen by not knowing a couple of simple techniques to maximize the chances to hit the green.

Why it is So Important to Hit the Green

Being able to make the green as efficiently as possible is a key part of a good round of golf. If you can hit the green from the fairway with one nice shot, 90% of golfers will not be able to even compete with you.

We all know what happens when an approach shot goes wrong and the ball ends up in a bunker or the water or worse...out of bounds. That feeling of thinking, if only I'd have hit the green I would be have a simple putt for a par by now. It doesn't need to be this way if you can learn some easy techniques and habits to improve your round.

I have seen many golfers hit a huge driver off the tee and have a relatively easy approach shot from 100 yards to the green, and then see the ball fly left or right leaving themselves a difficult pitch or even more awkward approach shot. It's easily done if you don't know what to do to correct this.

The best habit to get into when playing an approach shot is to aim for the middle of the green. Don't bother with the flag for now. By focusing on the green you're going to miss the bunker, the water the rough on the right or any other hazards. Usually when you don't hit the green it's not because you picked the wrong club and you were off because of distance, but because your were out with your alignment - quite often by 5-10 yards! Focus on alignment, not distance.

If you're looking to hit your greens consistently and see your golf swing improve then focusing on alignment is a great start. You'll be hitting your balls straighter towards the green and reducing your golf round by 7-10 shots a round. And once you start repairing more ball marks on the green, you'll know you've started to hit more greens!

Self Propelled Lawn Mowers

In these days, people are more passionate towards lawn sports over and maintaining beautiful gardens. For this, it is necessary to keep the lawn clean and flush as per our requisite. A lawn mower plays a major role in smoothing the lawn. It is a machine using whirling blades to chop up the lawn uniformly .They are basically categorized into two types. Rotary Mowers are those wherein the blades revolve about vertical axis. In cylinder or reel mowers, the blade assembly moves about horizontal axis. Hinging on the purpose, the mower designs differ. For residential lawns, the small mowers pushed by gardeners are apposite. In case of larger lawns, the larger ride-on mowers are used. For vast area of grass like football courts, golf courts, public parks etc. multi-gang mowers attached to tractors are used. A mower having internal combustion engine which runs on gasoline or other liquid fuels are called self-propelled lawn mowers. Self propelled rotary mowers as well as self propelled reel mowers are available.

Self propelled mowers possess various drive systems, each of them having their own pros and cons. The drives lean on the operating conditions and the techniques. For example, some mowers work well on slopes whereas some work well again on planes .Front wheel drive mowers are appropriate for flat surfaces. On slopes, you have to push down the handle so that the front wheels will be lifted off. From that downward pressure, rear wheel drive mowers get good toehold .The larger the diameter of the wheel, the better the traction is. But there will be less traction on the slopes or wet surfaces. It is up to you to decide the mower suitable for your lawn. In case of pulley and belt lawn mower drive, as the belt gets older, the grip afforded by the drive will get reduced and the drive becomes loose. A little mechanical adjustment is possible to tighten the drive. Even, under-loading and over tightening the belts result in damage to the system. If there lies frequent slipping, then it is the time to change the machine even though it looks in shape. Turntable drive system consists of a metallic disc and a drive wheel which exudes power to the wheels through the belts and gears. To adjust the speed of the mower, the drive wheel is adjusted to a minor radius on the disc. The efficiency of the drive is maintained by cleaning the contaminants over the disc. The disc and the drive wheels should be cleaned using engine degreaser to avoid slips.

Self propelled rotary lawn mowers need the operator to wring a bar which helps the mower to take off but, at one fell swoop we should take control over the direction it moves. If you move your grip off the bar, the blade stops spinning. The drive doesn't shut off even when you release the bar and thus facilitating your move from one place to another without slashing the grass. If you mow the same area in the same direction, in the fullness of time, they will form ruts. So, it is necessary to alternate the direction of your mowing for every session. These sort of switching mowing patterns help the blades to avoid cutting the grass in the same direction.

Self propelled rear lawn mowers provides instant trimming, unless you know how to use it. As it ropes improved technology, starting is easy. It supports mulching as well as possesses brake blades to pause the work. Rear drive mower uses both geared wheel as well as drive wheel connected to it. Using geared wheel made of plastic may wreck the system. So, it is better to go for metallic gears .You should avoid sharp turns by putting extra stress on the bar. Overfilling the oil tanks, lack of maintenance are the widespread reasons for drive failure. Internal combustion of fuels in self propelled mowers leads to air pollution as well as noise pollution.

Today, lawn mowers with high rapidity, better efficiency, low cost and less weight are available. This will help you get the hang about self propelled lawn mowers. You can exhibit your gardening talent and can have accolades for that.

Where to Download Games Online - A Must Read For All Gamers

Almost all gamers are looking for sources where they can download games online without going broke. Since everyone is keen and dying to know where they can do so pretty safely without worrying about downloading viruses, adware and spyware, and of course bursting their wallets, I decided to share some resources in this article about the most popular online game downloads sites today. Be sure to check out my resource link at the end of the article for the ultimate gaming site to download games online.

Here are 3 sites I have checked out. One thing to note is that most games can be downloaded but they are not in full version or there is a time limit tagged to it. In other words, to get the full version game downloads, you do have to subscribe. Then again, there are hundreds to thousands of games and you can simply move from playing one to another. And if you really love the game so much, consider joining them. It doesn't cost you more than $20 for monthly subscriptions.

Shockwave.com is not new to gamers seeking the thrills of online games. According to the site, there are more than 60,000 players online at the point I visited. This is not an easy feat to achieve. In fact, more than 20 million people visit the site every month to download games online there or simply just play them online. This site offers 400 over games from sports, action, adventure, puzzles, shooting, jigsaws and word games. These top hits are also top sellers.

Shockwave has a premium service called Shockwave Unlimited which allows subscribers to download over 300 games online. There is also a 10 day free trial. This offers basically full version game downloads with absolutely no time limit.

Next, we have Miniclip.com. This game site allows you to download games online like sports, multiplayer, action, puzzles, flash games and so on. What is impressive about this site is that the games are updated quite frequently so you can never get bored here. Some game titles like 3 Foot Ninja, 3 Foot Ninja II, Alien Attack, Bush Aerobics, Disc Golf, Sub Commander, Hostile Skies and Family Feud are popular games here.

The third site where you can download games online is GameHouse.com. You get games like Little Shop of Treasures 2, Mortimer Beckett and the Secrets of Spooky Manor, SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY HERE & NOW EDITION, Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos and many more. The paid option which costs $19.95 a month allows you to download all FunPass games, total of 300 over. There is no time limit and these are all full version game downloads. And yes, there is a free trial for 7 days.

These are just the more popular game download sites you can find online. Of course, as I mentioned earlier, there is one more gaming site I do not wish to miss mentioning. Check out my games blog if you are keen to download games online for less than pennies.

Bose Lifestyle V10 Review - Packing Punch in the Home Theater World

If you have only just started looking at a new home theater system or you have been in the market for a while and need to find the perfect one for you, drop everything and read my Bose Lifestyle v10 Review. There are loads of people talking about this system and I want you to know what I have learned about it myself so have devised this Bose Lifestyle v10 Review.

If I was looking for a Bose Lifestyle v10 Review, I would want to know a bit about the basics first before I was hit with the hard core tech specs. So, basically speaking this Bose system is a surround sound package that includes 5 speakers and is designed specifically for the Blu-ray disc player. You can barely notice the speakers which means they don't stand out as the very first thing you see when you walk into a room, they are small enough to be complimentary to your home theatre.

The system is easy to install because it follows the same compact design throughout. There are the all important instructions that makes installation a breeze, which means people like myself wont be left sitting there completely numb at the thought of putting something this high tech together. There are multi input and output sites so it enables complete functionality, and even includes an AM/FM tuner.

The other point I wanted to make in my Bose Lifestyle v10 Review was that all your connections are easily hidden away, and therefore you are again not met with cords and leads the moment you step into the room. The Bose system was designed to slip into your existing set up and compliment it thoroughly rather than overpower it with gadgetry. But don't think that because it is compact in size that you are getting a scaled down output of sound and quality. Bose speakers and sound systems can pack a bigger punch than many of their competitors hands down in the home theater market.

The Many Uses of Calculator Wheels

What are Calculator Wheels? They come in many shapes and sizes and we have probably all seen them at some time and called them by different names. They are the small circular plastic discs measuring about 100mm (4") in diameter that are used for calculating anything from Golf Handicaps to Pregnancy Dates or converting most imaginable units of measurement.

As Calculator Wheels are so versatile they are used by a wide variety of industries as functional tools and are often printed with a company logo and used as a Promotional Gift. Very popular in the medical industry are applications such as BMI Calculator Wheels, for measuring Body Mass Index, Body Shape Calculators, ECG Rules and Pregnancy Date Wheels which show the various key stages of pregnancy to assist the mother to be. The BMI Calculator can also be adapted for measuring the Body Mass Index of children by taking into consideration their age as well as their weight and height.

In the construction and engineering industries the Calculator Wheels are used for calculating the quantities of numerous products such as floor and wall tiles. As well as using the wheels for converting units of measurement such as weights, lengths and areas, there are many types of sliding scales which have one set of measurements on an outer sleeve and another set on a sliding panel which moves within the outer sleeve to line up the units to be converted. Some of the calculators and conversion wheels and sliders can be very complex and industry specific, typical uses would be in the air conditioning and ventilation field or in the complex area of machine tool design and manufacture.

Some of the fun Calculator Wheels are used in the hospitality and leisure industries. Golf Handicap Calculator Wheels take the stress out of a corporate golf day by making the handicap calculations easy for all types of games, they are often printed to promote one of the companies or sponsors and are an everlasting tool to be cherished by the amateur golfer. Wheels that show Cocktail recipes can be a novelty behind the home bar or a serious tool for the professional barman. A further tool for those who enjoy wine is a Red and White Wine Disc which shows a selection of popular wines and gives a guide to the meals to which they are most suited.

When it comes to complex planning of lead times and the stages of project management, the Lead Time Calculator is yet another useful application of the revolving wheel. The dates can be notated with key factors relative to the industry, product or project type.

Look out for Calculator Wheels as you go about your daily activities and have some fun thinking about some new ways in which they could be used.

Improve Golf Driving Distance

How do I improve my golf driving distance? I hear this question daily. This is the dream of almost every amateur golfer. To hit it longer. To achieve this goal is not what you pictured. Stop buying more clubs! Don't hit another practice ball! And even take a break from your golf instructor.

It's about working on the machine that swings the club. Are you following me? Do you know what I'm getting at? You're an athlete if you play golf. Don't laugh. I'm serious! To swing a golf club effectively takes a tremendous amount of golf specific strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and stability.

None of the above can be accomplished without an optimum level of golf specific fitness. When was the last time you made a swing and felt like it was an effortless, full and produced maximum power? I'm sure it's happened on occasion, but not as often as you want right?

The reason why is your body can't produce a repetitively powerful swing. It's not capable of it. Why? Because you need to work on it 'off the course' with simple golf strength and golf stretches to build up the golf specific muscles that can make this happen.

To improve driving distance you must take this attitude. If not, be ready to accept the same swing, game and results you've been getting for a long time. I don't mean to mix words, but the truth is needed. No sugar-coating! This is "throwing all the cards on the table" and deciding how bad you want to improve your golf driving distance.

Golfers have been bombarded with ads about the latest-greatest driver, guaranteed to add 30 yards to your driving distance. I say bs on that. It's you that swings that club. Doesn't matter what club you have if your body is in poor condition.

The critical area to work on for the quickest results is your core (mid-section). Your core is the engine that drives the swing and produces all the power. You've got to strengthen this area from a rotational standpoint to improve golf driving distance.

Not only will this approach improve your golf driving distance, but it will eliminate low back pain and injury. Low back pain is the most common complaint among golfers. It's no wonder since the golf swing is such a torquing movement that directly affects the lower back if you have weak and restricted muscles.

The benefits far outweigh the effort involved. Longer drives, no more injuries and years of golf enjoyment. There's no better return than that. So take a different approach to improve your driving distance for golf.

Do you want to discover the secret to creating more power and consistency in your golf swing... and eliminating ALL your swing faults?

Mission Soldier Black - Inline Skate Review

The Mission Soldier Black is a moderately priced inline hockey skate for experienced players. Unlike cheaper models that cut corners on construction and features, the Soldier Black is equipped with enough perks to make it a great intermediate to advanced level skate. Looking to upgrade to a more fast and dependable skate? This could be the pair of blades for you.

Ironically enough, the Mission Soldier Black is actually white and blue. I am a huge fan of the styling on this model. It is simple, sleek, and generally very cool looking. The comfort level of the boot has also been upgraded from lower-end skates. The tongue is nicely padded to prevent lace-bite and the ankles are given lots of extra cushion. The boot is constructed of rigid material that will hold up nicely over time. While the Soldier Black is not the lightest skate on the market, it is certainly light enough to give you great speed and performance. The chassis are also upgraded over models like the CSX or DSX, being much lighter and stronger than cheaper models.

The wheels that come standard on the Soldier Black are outstanding. The super-soft Rink Rat Hot Shot XXX are designed for indoor courts and provide maximum grip. The vanguard Hi-Lo setup is utilized, meaning your wheels will be 76-76-80-80 (in mm). Larger wheels in the back of the skate allow for faster backward skating and more balance. Those used to outdoor wheels will find the grip on these hot shot wheels to be amazing, especially on sport court surfaces.

The Mission Soldier Black comes standard with Mission ABEC-9 bearings, one of the highest-quality bearings on the market. They are a huge upgrade over cheaper skates in the Mission line which are generally equipped with ABEC-5 or 7 bearings. If you are upgrading from cheaper skates you will no doubt notice that the Soldier skates have a very smooth ride thanks to these great bearings.

The Soldier retails for around $200, but you can generally find a deal if you search long enough. In fact, I found the 2009 model on sale for $130 shipped. Mission does offer other more expensive high-end skates like the Boss. These skates are made of lighter materials and have some more padding. However, for my money the Soldier is the best value skate on the market. It is certainly a professional level skate that does not break the bank. Looking to take your game to the next level? Try out the Mission Soldier Black.

Why Golf GPS Systems Are Better Than Laser Rangefinders

Avid golfers are always looking to improve the methods of their game. GPS systems have become a popular way to do it. Why are they better than a laser rangefinder?

First, you get more information. You can see a virtual image of the entire course, including the risks with an elevated view of the next shot. You can also speed and wind direction and green polls.

The use of satellite, you do not have a visual connection to the destination, which may havevery helpful. If the wind is blowing causing the target to move, you will still be able to measure the distance. A drawback to satellites is that weather conditions or objects like tall trees can interfere with the signal. Also, some areas just do not have good reception since you must be able to use several satellites in order to calculate your position.

With the global positioning system units, you do lose some amount of accuracy as compared to a laser rangefinder. You also can incur annual or monthly fees for downloading course maps, or you may have to pay by the map. Before purchasing, be sure that maps are available for the courses you play. Rangefinders do not require fees beyond the initial purchase price which also tends to be cheaper.

The global positioning systems are usually larger and more elaborate. They have higher resolution screens and the ability to read them in different lighting conditions. The laser units which resemble binoculars can be very small and have few features making them easier to use although a steady hand is required in order to measure distances with these devices.

For basic calculation of yardages, a laser rangefinder is all you need. The golf GPS devices offer many more features plus are just plain more fun to use. Either device will help improve your game.

Spinal Decompression, Chiropractic Treatments Can Restore Your Back and Neck to Better Health

Spinal Decompression is a successful chiropractic treatment that is being used for patients with lower back pain, neck pain, disc problems, and sciatica

Spinal Decompression, what is it, and how does chiropractic treatment help?

Spinal Decompression is procedure for lower back and neck pain that Chiropractors are treating more and more people for every day. Lifestyle and the need to seek eternal youth has made many people increase their recreational activities (running, martial arts, tennis, golf, bodybuilding, etc.) all with the goal to improve health because more of us spend more time sitting in a chair in front of a computer slowly damaging our posture as we develop disc problems from any of the above activities. Spinal decompression therapy is used primarily to treat disc injuries in the neck and in the lower back.

Spinal Decompression is very effective at treating bulging discs, herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating arm pain, headaches, and facet syndrome. Most chiropractic offices have computerized mechanized machines that assist the chiropractor in treating this condition. Once you lie down on the decompression table, the machine does all the work. You shouldn't feel any pain and your back will have a sense of feeling like it has a new lease on life after having these treatments.

Whether treating your lower back or neck, you lie comfortably on your back and either have soft padded straps around your back and waist, or soft rubber pads positioned behind your neck.

As the Spinal Decompression table pulls on your spine, it gently divides the vertebrae from each other, producing a vacuum inside the discs that are being targeted. This vacuum begins to suck the bulges or herniations back into the inside of the disc, and off of your nerve base. This occurs on a microscopic basis each time, but cumulatively the effects can be quite amazing. Along with this process, it creates an action which pumps nutrient-rich fluids from the outside of the discs to the inside. This reaction helps the healing process of the damaged and degenerated disc.

How long will the treatment program take?

Every patient I see will have a chiropractic treatment plan developed specifically for their condition. On average, I tell most of my patients that the total time of treatment can be a 2-4 month process and will require multiple visits each week and then slowly decrease to once a week as their spinal issues start to heal. Each session can be as little as 30 minutes or can be as long as an hour. It all depends on whether I'm treating just the lower back, or if I'm treating the back and neck along with any other prescribed therapy.

Will Spinal Decompression treatment work for all spinal problems?

Spinal decompression is not a cure all for all back and neck problems. It is very effective for a great majority of the patients I see. I've listed some of the health issues you should expect to see great improvements for:

Sciatica, neck pain, Headaches, Chronic neck pain, Chronic low back pain

An Overview of Why One Has Back Pain From Degenerative Disc Disease

Ninety percent of Americans will suffer from back pain at some point in life. Of those, ten percent will turn into what's called chronic back pain, which is pain that persists for more than three months.

One of the reasons for chronic pain is degenerative disc disease, which refers to pain that is emanating from the intervertebral disk. The intervertebral disks are the shock absorbers between the bony vertebrae in one's spinal column.

The spinal disc does have a nerve supply and therefore can experience pain. The nerve supply comes from the outer part of the disc, called the anulus. If the lumbar disk undergoes degeneration or trauma and there is damage to the anulus, it can be painful. The inner part of the intervertebral disc, the nucleus pulposus, has no nerve endings and does not experience pain. This can be likened to a jelly donut, where the gelatinous part does not hurt at all, and the outer covering of the donut can be painful as it cracks or tears.

What about disc bulges? Over forty percent of individuals over the age of 40 have disc bulging. It is analogous to a car tire that is losing air and starts to bulge from the weight of the car. In the case of the bulging disk in the human spinal column, it is not always painful. In fact, most disk bulges in humans are not painful and are simply seen on imaging studies as an incidental finding.

Once the anulus has tears or cracks from trauma or degeneration, pain can result. This pain may be completely in the back and may also radiate into the buttocks or flank area. If inflammation results and envelops one of the spinal nerve roots coming out from the spine, one may also experience sciatica from what's called chemical radiculitis.

There is not a gold standard diagnostic test to see if the intervertebral disc is the source of back pain being experienced. A lumbar discogram is an outpatient study that attempts to reproduce the back pain to make the true diagnosis of symptomatic degenerative disc disease. It is a painful test and does not help a patient's symptoms. It only allows for a diagnosis confirmation.

Outdoor Family Fun Activities

If you have children you know what a challenge it can be to keep them entertained. Sure, it is easy to plop them down in front of the TV or to hook up the video game console. But with the declining health of our nation's children, you need to get your children engaged in some active play that not only engages their minds, but gets them moving. Most local and state governments maintain parks that are well-suited for this purpose. Within 90 minutes drive from my house in Pennsylvania, there are no less than 100 Local, County, State, or National Parks. Here are just a handful of ideas to keep your kids busy outside (and all of them are free or cheap!).

Disc (or Frisbee) Golf

We have a large disc golf course in our county park and about one hour away, there is one in the woods at the state park. These "golf courses" are played with a Frisbee. Each player throws the Frisbee toward the goal which is a metal pole with a basket and chains to catch the flying disc. It is played just like golf with a tee area where you throw your disc, and a "hole" which is the aforementioned metal pole. Score is kept just like golf. And, you will find that many of the courses are designed like golf courses with water hazards, mud traps, and long "fairways" through the forest. You get a lot of walking exercise and throwing the disc around natural hazards can be a challenge!

Geocaching

This new sport is catching on like crazy! It is a treasure hunt for modern, hidden treasure, where the "X" on your pirate map are actually GPS coordinates. You can find the hidden caches on the geocaching.com website. Once you have the coordinates, it is a matter of plugging them into your handheld GPS and heading out into the woods. If you own a GPS then there is no cost for this activity. Kids love this as they can pretend to be pirates searching for a secret treasure! They learn valuable skills such as direction (North, South, East, and West) and distance (0.37 miles to the destination). We took a bunch of school children on a hunt recently and they loved it!

These are just 2 simple ideas to get your kids from in front of the TV and outside having fun! Both of these activities are great for all ages and will not only help them exercise, but will get them out in nature.

Slip Disc Treatment

What is a slip disc?

A disc is said to be slipped when it bulges or tears out of its protective ring of connective tissue. It is also called bulging disc, ruptured disc or herniated disc.

Slip Disc Treatment

Slip disc can most often be treated by addressing the causes that led to this condition.

1. Self treatment

Simple home treatment like hot and cold applications accompanied by rest can often relieve the pain caused by minor cases of slip disc. The patient may also take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication and pain killers like Tylenol and Advil. Simple exercises that strengthen and stretch the back may provide a lot of relief. Physiotherapy and massage may also help, if required. 95% of the people are cured by these simple steps.

2. Change in life-style

Overweight people may also suffer from slip disc. The excessive flesh around the waist causes strain on the lumber spine which supports the entire weight of the upper body. When the discs in the vertebrae come under pressure, they tear out of their boundary and press against the nerve roots. Obesity often occurs due to lethargic lifestyle and uncontrolled eating habits. Eating vegetables and fruits, taking physical exercises regularly and positive thinking can go a long way in reducing the weight and pressure upon the lower back.

Medicines

If the do-it-yourself efforts fail to treat the slip disc, the patient may take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and narcotic pain killers. This may be accompanied by muscle relaxants if the person is suffering from spasmodic pains in the back.

Injections

If the oral medicines do not work, patient may have to take steroid injections into the lower back area where the slipped disc has occurred. These injections generally have to be taken once in every three months. The medicines or injections should only be taken at the advice of the doctor.

Surgery

Surgery should be considered only as the last option when every other method has failed. It should be confirmed through tests that the slip disc will cause a potential damage to the nerve roots. Even in surgery, there are several options. You can consult the spine specialist which option will work best in your condition.

Herniated Disc Pain - Finding A Cure

Herniated disc refers to the protrusion of the disc. It is basically the same when one says of a bulging disc. This condition is painful. Its occurrence is manifested by a herniated disc pain that is usually felt on the back area. This condition is generally common on the lumbar area than on other areas of the spine.

As a person grows older, his or her disc tends to be brittle, dry and less cushiony. Once the disc is weak, the outer part is prone to tearing or any damage. The internal substance of the disc pushes through the tear. As this happens, the person can experience herniated disc pain. Herniated disc occurs for most people aging from 30 years old and up.

Herniated disc pain can be felt at the lower back part down to the legs and feet. But generally, the pain is felt in one side only. The pain will be manifested depending on which side the weak or damaged disc is located. The herniated disc pain also varies on the pressure put upon the nerve by the bulging disc. Most patients under this condition complain of spreading pain over their buttocks that goes down one thigh down to their calf. Others experienced the herniated disc pain on their two legs, while some legs felt numb, weak or tingly.

To reduce your herniated disc pain, or to minimize its intensity, try shifting positions. You may discover that supporting yourself up with both your hands while sitting down alleviates the pain. Shifting weight from one side is also helpful.

Physicians make sure if their patients are really suffering from a herniated disc by asking relevant questions, doing some thorough physical examinations, and diagnostic testing like x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging and computer tomography scan. Medications may be prescribed to ease the pain. Somehow, it helps depending on the patient's reaction to it. Other than medications, some form of treatments are then applied like physical exercises as ordered by a professional physical therapist, special massages for suitable for such medical conditions, chiropractic care, postural changes and the last resort, surgery. Surgeries are only done when all the other non-invasive treatments do not work and if severe pain is still present after six weeks or more. But note that not all herniated disc patients can get surgery for their treatment. It will still greatly depend on their entire health condition, their decision and other essential factors.

Herniated disc pain varies from mild, moderate to extremely agonizing. Apropos medications and treatments may be readily available, but do not neglect the fact that not all work the same for everybody. You may need a different approach than what most are taking. But be assured that with technologies and medical science that they are these days, there seem to be enough solutions for the medical crisis existed.
