Panasonic TX-P42X10B Review

Panasonic are a Japanese corporation that are one of the market leaders when it comes to televisions and other electrical devices, and in this article we review the Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen Television, which was first released on sale around the beginning of 2009, retailing around the £600 mark.

The TX-P42X10B is part of the Panasonic Viera range, which is renowned for its excellent picture performance, particularly in relation to sports events and action movies. The reason for this is that some TV's struggle with fast-moving images, whilst the Viera range is equipped with 100Hz technology to counter this.

The viewing quality is the best selling point of the Panasonic TX-P42X10B television set, with a great depth of colours and excellent contrast on display. As this model is a plasma model, viewers do not have to sacrifice picture quality when they want to watch from a wide angle. This is not always the case with some other widescreen models.

A 42-inch screen is a great size, but it is important to consider the size of your room before you make the purchase. Unless your room is at least 12ft x 12ft you may find that a screen of this size can become slightly overbearing, and will not offer the best viewing option.

Audio quality is also very good with this 42-inch Panasonic Television, with V-Audio technology providing clarity that ranks above the vast majority of television sets in this price bracket. There is also the potential for adding a surround sound set if you so desire.

One of the best things about the Panasonic TX-P42X10B is that it is so easy to set up. It is literally just a case of plugging it in and switching it on - there is no complex installation procedure. Customer feedback has indicated that the only slight drawback is that the screen needs a few hours 'bedding in' before it displays images to their best. This is quite common with television sets, however.

In terms of design, this Panasonic Widescreen model is sleek and contemporary looking, and comes in a traditional back casing. The screen is constructed with an additional front sheet of glass, making the TV durable, hard-wearing and ideal for those with young children.

It could be argued that this TV is basic in design, as it does not come with some of the additional features that can be found on other sets of this price, such as USB capabilities. If however you are not a technical buff and just want to watch a quality TV, you are looking in the right place.

Overall, the Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen Television is a great all-round purchase, scoring highly in terms of both picture quality and audio capabilities. The stylish design and top manufacturer make it one for the shortlist.
